Dear Victory Family,

  As we close out a long hot summer and make our way toward fall I am praying for God's wisdom and guidance for our journey as a church. Our journey of late has led through a few valleys, but through it all God continues to be a faithful Shepherd. I am so grateful to pastor a church with compassion for one another. You have been so faithful to minister to families in need. People cannot overlook the expressions of love you have for your brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you for your caring spirit. We must never lose sight of the many ways in which God has blessed us.

I want to encourage the men of the church to mark their calendars for two exciting opportunities. The first is Saturday, September 25th. The Men's Ministry of VBC is sponsoring "The Men's Bigger Breakfast" at 8:00 am in the Fellowship Hall. We will have a special speaker and a really big breakfast. Watch for more details in the bulletin. Also, November 5th and 6th Victory Baptist Church will be hosting a Men's Conference with Dr. Bob Reccord. The focus of this conference is "Becoming Men of Valor." This event will begin with dinner on Friday night and closeout on Saturday at noon. Men from around Middle Tennessee will be joining our men as they are challenged to face life from a Christ prospective. You will be asked to sign-up for this event soon. I encourage every man in the VBC family to consider participating in this event. Let's fill up the God's House with God's men.

I was privileged to attend a function at the Wilson County Fair last month in honor of a longtime resident of Mt. Juliet. Mrs. Ilene Moss was presented with the "Old-Timer" Award for her support of the farming community and her contributions to the Wilson County Fair. I was grateful that Mrs. Moss was able to take part in this wonderful occasion in her honor. It was good to see her out and to witness the smile on her face as she was recognized for her lifetime of support for agriculture in Wilson County. Cracker Barrel presented her with a special rocking chair and a very supportive crowd congratulated her. Thank you Mrs. Moss for setting a wonderful example for all of us to follow.
